Rough Track #2: Only Source of Light
So this Brett Mattox guy drives up to Rochester from Talladega to play some shows in April 2009. While the “band” is “practicing” together (for the second time ever), this Brett guy says he has a new song he wants to try. So he plays it for us and it’s great and everyone joins in and we sort of write our parts together like I would imagine a real band does all the time. It was the only time we wrote a song that way.

it sounds like four people playing five different songs at once. i hate it.
We decided to forgo the steady buildup in tempo for—as Jim insisted—the Come on Eileen approach. We had a mix very similar to the album version by November.
